Steve B. Phillips brings over 17 years of experience working with children to his role as lead toy reviewer and writer at As an elementary school teacher since 2007, Steve has extensive knowledge of child development, education standards, and age-appropriate toys.

In the classroom, Steve works hard to create engaging, hands-on lessons that tap into students’ creativity and curiosity. He is constantly evaluating educational toys, games, and activities to keep children stimulated and having fun while learning. Steve applies this same approach when thoroughly and objectively assessing toys for reviews at ToysQueries.

Although Steve excels at finding the best STEM, early reading, and developmental toys, he understands games and activities should nurture all facets of childhood. He takes care to recommend toys that spark imagination, build social skills, and encourage physical activity in addition to teaching academic skills.

When he isn’t teaching or reviewing the top toys on the market, Steve enjoys hiking, cooking, reading biographies, and spending time with his wife and two young daughters. Testing toys with his own children provides Steve with valuable insight into how engaging and enjoyable different toys are for kids.

Steve’s passion for informing parents’ toy purchases with thoughtful, honest assessments comes from his own experience as a dad. He started to help parents navigate the complex toy landscape and feel confident they are selecting the most appropriate, beneficial, and fun toys for their children.
